Cluckin’ Run is the first game created by JBTheRooster (Jason Bradley), head of 601G Studios. It is a game where you control a chicken endlessly running down a path and your objective is to dodge oncoming obstacles for as long as possible.

This game got its start as a tutorial series from YouTuber, Brackeys. I began this tutorial series to start my Unity learning journey. I never expected that it would lead to an actual game that I would want to release to the world. But as I got further into the tutorial, I started developing ideas for how this game could be made into something of my own. How I could add my own style, tweak the gameplay how I saw fit, features I could add, etc.

I spent 2-3 months working on the original PC version of this game off and on before I eventually got burnt out and decided I was ready to call it finished and look at maybe publishing it and moving on to other projects. I didn’t really want to put in the work to port it to other platforms though, but I eventually did sit down and build the Android port one afternoon.

Once I built the Android version, I started getting a good bit of positive feedback from those I shared it with as well as others they shared it with. I was receiving positive feedback on both the Android version and PC version. People were giving suggestions on what they would like to see in the game and praising what I had done thus far.

With all this feedback and me already working on the game again to port it to Android, I finally admitted to myself that I couldn’t just move on from it. I felt re-invigorated to work on this game again. I felt like this game deserved more. It deserved more polish, more features, more love from its creator.

So Cluckin’ Run returned to development. I polished the Android port and published it on the Google Play Store. I continued work on it and pushed out some updates over time. Now we have raised money via Kickstarter to fund porting it to iOS so I will soon be pushing out that port as well and putting this game on the App Store. Once the iOS port is released, I’ll get back to work on further updates and continue to add more and more features to this game.

So if you get a chance to try my first game ever, please don’t hesitate to provide any feedback you may have. I would love to hear it and will take any and all feedback into consideration. If you play my game, take time to read this post, or support this game dev adventure of mine in any way, I just want to say thank you. Without your support, this dream wouldn’t be possible.
