Traits

Blessing of the Goddesses
The Nevermore Phoenix is a divine creation, blessed by the Goddesses of the Seasons, each contributing to its unique abilities:

  • Iris, Goddess of Spring, imbued the Phoenix with life-giving magic, enabling it to cleanse nightmares and replace them with dreams of renewal and hope.

  • Pyra, Goddess of Summer, granted its fiery blue plumage, a radiant shield of strength to ward off malevolent spirits in the night.

  • Amber, Goddess of Fall, gifted it a calming aura, ensuring that its protection brought tranquility and serenity to those under its care.

  • Eirwen, Goddess of Winter, wove into its essence the magic of fulfilled rest, ensuring that all who sleep beneath its watch wake rejuvenated and at peace.

  • Weiss, Goddess of Winter, empowered the Phoenix to invoke fear and nightmares in its enemies as a defense mechanism, a reflection of her cold resolve against those who would harm the innocent.

While the Phoenix is within 1 mile of a sleeping creature, the creature cannot suffer from nightmares or be affected by magical fear effects.

Dreamweaver Aura (30 ft.)
Any creature within 30 feet of the Nevermore Phoenix that is asleep gains immunity to psychic damage and has their dreams replaced with serene visions. Hostile creatures attempting to magically induce nightmares within this radius must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or fail.

Legendary Grace
The Nevermore Phoenix has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and cannot be tracked by nonmagical means unless it chooses to leave a trail.

Feathers of Fortune
The feathers of the Nevermore Phoenix are revered as sacred relics. Creatures carrying one of these feathers gain advantage on saving throws against fear effects and magical nightmares. Dreamcatchers crafted from these feathers protect entire households, ensuring peaceful sleep and warding off evil spirits.

Magic Immunity to Sleep and Charm
The Nevermore Phoenix cannot be magically put to sleep or charmed.

Actions

Multiattack
The Nevermore Phoenix makes three attacks: two with its Talons and one with its Dreamfire Wing Attack.

Talons
Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 25 (4d8 + 6) slashing damage.

Dreamfire Wing Attack (Recharge 5–6)
The Nevermore Phoenix beats its wings, releasing waves of shimmering blue flames. Each creature in a 20-foot radius must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 35 (10d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Creatures hit by this attack must also make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed for 1 minute, seeing the Phoenix as a benevolent guardian.

Dreamcatcher Flame
Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 60 ft., one target.
Hit: 28 (6d8) radiant damage. If the target is a creature with exhaustion, it reduces its exhaustion level by 1.

Bonus Actions

Nightmare Feeder
The Nevermore Phoenix can detect nightmares within a 1-mile radius and may pull them from sleeping creatures as a bonus action. When it does so, the creature has its exhaustion level reduced by 1 and gains temporary hit points equal to 10 (3d6).

Reactions

Nightmare Reprisal
When the Nevermore Phoenix is damaged by a creature within 60 feet, it can use its reaction to plague the attacker’s mind with a burst of terrifying visions. The creature must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or take 21 (6d6) psychic damage and be frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the condition on a success.

Legendary Actions

The Nevermore Phoenix can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn.

  • Soothing Glide (Costs 1 Action). The Phoenix moves up to half its flying speed without provoking opportunity attacks, leaving a trail of radiant light. Allies who pass through this light gain 10 (3d6) temporary hit points.

  • Nightmare Cleanse (Costs 2 Actions). The Phoenix targets one sleeping creature within 60 feet. The creature’s nightmares are erased, and it immediately gains the benefits of a long rest.

  • Dreamflare (Costs 3 Actions). The Phoenix releases a burst of dreamfire in a 30-foot radius. All creatures in the area must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature is plagued by visions of its worst fears, taking 21 (6d6) psychic damage and becoming incapacitated for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the condition on a success.
